Day 1 Montepulciano

A visit to a winery for a tasting of the  famous Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG and Rosso di Montepulciano DOC. A very special merende at designated spot.

Our master cheese maker comes to Cucina della Terra with a family tradition of artisan pecorino production.  Demonstration of cheese-making.

DAY 2 Truffle Hunting

A trip to Umbria would be incomplete without a journey into the forest with a very special hunter accompanied by a truffle-loving dog who will unearth this precious funghi while you discover its traditions and history. 4 course lunch at the farmhouse

DAY 3 Perugia, an area dating back to 310 BCE and a city rich in Renaissance art, is currently home to the world-renowned Umbrian Jazz Festival and Perugina Chocolate.   You will walk the streets, visiting the Etruscan Rocca Paolina, the Fontana Maggiore in the Piazza IV Novembre, the Palazzo dei Priori which is adorned with a griffen, the lion, symbol of the rivaling Guelfs while taking time to sample wood fired pizza & pastries from Caffe Sandri.

DAY 4 Assisi

We will visit another World Heritage site, Assisi, for a walking tour of the Piazza del Comune and the Basilicas of Santa Chiara and San Francesco.  We will have an opportunity to visit our favorite bottega selling Umbria’s finest regional products such as tartufella, farro and the lentils of casteluccio, and visit some of the pastry shops selling an unbelievable assortment of almond flavored cookies, ciabatti stuffed like a strudel with dried fruits and nuts, the traditional sweet bread of Assisi, pane di san Francesco among other sweets based on ancient recipes.

DAY 5 Siena

The Piazza del Campo with 8 streets radiating from the city center, considered a work of art and also designated as a World Heritage Site, demands a certified guided tour to appreciate its historical and artistic significance.  During our walk we will stop at Café Nanni for a tasting of the celebrated selections of Pan Forte. Our farewell Dinner at a designated Ristorante
